YouTube Viral Outlier Finder

Paste any channel and see which of its recent videos wildly outperformed that channel's own average — a fast way to spot what actually worked, whether it's a competitor's channel or your own.

Outlier score is each video's views divided by the channel's average views across its most recent uploads (up to 30) — a video scoring 3x means it pulled in three times the channel's normal audience.

How it works

  1. 1Paste a channel's @handle, URL, or legacy username.
  2. 2Click Find outliers.
  3. 3Videos are sorted by outlier score — the highest multipliers at the top are the ones that broke that channel's normal pattern.

When to use this

  • You're researching a competitor and want to know what actually worked for them, not just what they post most.
  • You want an honest read on your own channel — which videos genuinely broke your normal pattern.
  • You're short on ideas and want to see which format a small channel in your niche found success with.

A worked example

Paste a channel that normally averages 8,000 views per video and the tool flags any upload at roughly 16,000+ views (the 2x threshold) as an outlier. A video at 64,000 views scores 8x — worth studying closely — while one at 12,000 scores 1.5x and stays below the flagged threshold.

Frequently asked questions

Why only the most recent 30 videos?+

It keeps the average recent and relevant to the channel's current style — averaging in videos from years ago would blur the signal for what's working right now.

What counts as an "outlier"?+

Any video at 2x the channel's average views or higher is flagged as an outlier — that threshold is a reasonable starting point, not an exact science.

Does this work on my own channel?+

Yes — paste your own handle to see which of your videos overperformed your normal average, and look for what they had in common.

Why look at outliers instead of just the channel's most-viewed videos?+

Raw view count mostly reflects how big a channel already is. The outlier ratio measures whether a specific video broke that channel's own pattern, which is a stronger signal for what to copy — especially on small channels, where a genuine format discovery is easier to spot.

What should I do once I find an outlier?+

Compare it against that channel's other videos — title framing, thumbnail style, topic, upload timing — to isolate what might have driven the spike, rather than assuming the whole format is the reason.
